Ready to Make Discoveries
On January 4, 2024, the California Institute of Immunology & Immunotherapy (CIII) celebrated the establishment of its future home at UCLA Research Park in Los Angeles.
Michelson Philanthropies founder Dr. Gary K. Michelson and co-chair Alya Michelson joined Governor Gavin Newsom, UC leaders, and other philanthropists to announce the purchase of a 700,000-square-foot property at the site of the former Westside Pavilion mall. The research park will also be home to the Center for Quantum Science and Engineering.
CIII will become a hub of innovation and the world’s leading center for decoding the human immune system. The pioneering research center, uniquely combining quantum computing, artificial intelligence, and biomedical research, holds immense potential to revolutionize how we treat diseases and solve global climate challenges.
A range of researchers and investigators will pursue their discoveries and innovations at CIII to make profound, lifesaving advancements in the landscape of immunological research, medical innovation, and human health.
Future Home of CIII
UCLA has transformed the former Westside Pavilion shopping mall into the UCLA Research Park, a 700,000-square-foot hub for groundbreaking research and innovation. This site will house the California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy and the UCLA Center for Quantum Science and Engineering, attracting top scholars and industry leaders. The transformation, supported by a $500 million state investment and significant donor contributions, aims to advance scientific and technological breakthroughs that will benefit both California and the global community.
“CIII will save lives, reduce human suffering, educate new generations of scientists, and seed the next technological economic powerhouse in California.”
