Advocating for Affordable Textbooks

Michelson Philanthropies Executive Director, Geoffrey Baum Joined KPCC/LAist to discuss textbook affordability and the advocation for Governor Newsom’s $115 million budget for ZTC programs.

Michelson Philanthropies Executive Director Geoffrey Baum spoke to KPCC/LAist about the Michelson Center for Public Policy’s efforts to advocate for the full implementation of the $115 million Governor Gavin Newsom allocated for the Zero-Textbook-Cost degree program.

“Every dollar counts when you’re a community college student,” Baum said. “What I think would be wise is to empower students to know in advance what things will cost as they are navigating, as they are making registration decisions and enrollment decisions.”
