Leap Awards $90,000 to Diverse Pet Care Startups

15 promising pet care startups collectively receive $90,000 in grant funding after graduating from the Leap Venture Academy Bootcamp.

Leap Venture Academy, a pet startup accelerator launched by Michelson Found Animal Foundation and Kinship (a division of Mars Petcare) – announced that 15 promising pet care startups collectively received $90,000 in grant funding after graduating from the academy’s Bootcamp. The weeklong event connected founders who identify as female and/or persons of color with the resources and mentorship needed to get their startups to the next stage in their business.

On the final day of the Bootcamp, the participants were asked to vote for one of their peer companies to receive a $20,000 award from Leap. That award was given to Woof Together, a startup from Athens, Greece focused on creating pet standards in the hospitality industry. Then in a surprise announcement, Leap organizers also announced that the other 14 Bootcamp founders would each receive an award of $5,000 to encourage diversity in the pet care industry.
