2023 Open Arms Challenge: Michelson Found Animals Foundation and National Partners Invite Animal Shelters to Increase Inclusivity and Adoptions.
The Michelson Found Animals, a foundation of Michelson Philanthropies, is excited to announce the 2023 Open Arms Challenge. Twenty-two national organizations have come together to invite you to join the 2023 Open Arms Challenge! This Challenge is all about opening our hearts and minds to more accessible and inclusive practices. For the month of April 2023, we are encouraging animal shelters, foster-based organizations, and public charities focused on keeping pets and people together to pilot new approaches that open doors to new adopters and volunteers and welcome your entire community.
Throughout the month of April, Michelson Found Animals Foundation will be offering support and resources to participating organizations as they strive to create a welcoming environment for all staff (paid and unpaid)and community members and to keep pets with their families whenever possible.
Participating organizations will have the opportunity to explore new ways of increasing accessibility and inclusivity, such as returning voicemails promptly, providing literature in multiple languages, or re-evaluating and revising adoption application processes. Additionally, $420,000 in grants will be available to support the implementation of these new approaches.
